Following a three-way competitive pitch that involved Carat and MediaCom, MediaVest has retained the ESB Group media account. Worth around €5.2m a year, according to Nielsen adspend figures, it was the biggest competitive tender of the year so far.
MediaVest had been working with the ESB Group for the past five years. According to agency managing director Michael Clancy, ” “we are delighted to be the preferred supplier to ESB Group and we are looking forward to continuing to work with one of Ireland’s most innovative and dynamic advertisers. In particular we are excited about the opportunity of embracing digital and data to help ESB Group compete in a challenging market. ”
Commenting on the appointment, Lisa Browne head of marketing said: “after a very competitive tendering process for a media buying and planning agency, ESB is delighted to announce that our incumbent agency MediaVest has been awarded the contract. The energy sector has experienced enormous change in recent years due to the changing needs of energy consumers, deregulation and significantly increased competition. It is imperative that the Electric Ireland and ESB brands have the support and expertise of a strong media agency to help navigate the changing media landscape and resulting new opportunities to ensure we communicate effectively with consumers and achieve maximum value for ESB Group’s media investment.”
