Paula Murphy has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Marketing Institute of Ireland. She replaces outgoing chairman Páraic O’Toole, who remains on as a non-executive director.
Well known in media and marketing circles, Paula Murphy is responsible for brand operations at Vodafone Ireland and she is a previous group marketing director of Independent Newspapers. She has also held roles in Superquinn and Kerry Foods.
According to Murphy,”with strong leadership, a clear strategy and a talented executive team, the Marketing Institute is confident of the value we will bring to our fast-changing profession, and the benefits our members will enjoy in the exciting times ahead. We are especially calling on all marketing leaders to join us and help shape the future of the marketing community in Ireland.”
The Institute has also announced the appointment of two new directors. Gerard O’Neill, chairman of Amárach Research, and David Field, Marketing Director of Brown Thomas. The two new directors replace Damian Devaney of Smurfit Kappa and Michael Killeen of Dialogue, who are standing down from the Board upon expiry of their terms.
Gerard O’Neill is chairman of Amárach Research, where he also leads the strategic consulting practice, working with senior management teams to create resilient strategies for the future. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics. For his part, David Field was appointed Marketing Director at Brown Thomas in January 2014, prior to which he led the repositioning strategy at Eason where he was Head of Marketing, eCommerce and Innovation.
