Julian Douglas the co-founder and MD of Entertainment Media Networks (EMN), the company which owns entertainment.ie and Beaut.ie is stepping down from the job to pursue other interests.
“After 17 years managing the company and achieving what we have I am delighted to be moving on to a completely new adventure and part of my life. It is very exciting. For the company, it is now in a great place to take advantage of the solid foundations that we have built together and to push on and grow,” says Douglas.
Started in 1998 entertainment.ie quickly established itself as a “go to” place to find out what’s on where in Ireland. In March 2014, the company bought the popular beauty and fashion website beaut.ie.
Apart from Douglas, other shareholders in EMN include the Irish Times, which has a 31% stake, Dermot Hanrahan, Matt May and Diarmuid MacAonghausa of Fusion and Fred Karlsson, the founder of DoneDeal.ie
A statement issued by the shareholders of the company, said “the shareholders are very appreciative of the vision and passion that Julian brought to bear on entertainment.ie over the years. He has been a pioneer in the development of premium indigenous Irish web publishing and leaves the business in the top tier of Irish web businesses. Julian remains a shareholder of the company and we look forward to working with him in the future, to develop the business through its next phase.”
