Tom Doherty, the former managing director of Publicis QMP and vice president of IAPI, has penned his first novel called JimiJix.
Doherty, who retired from adland in 2010, has been busy over the last few years, penning his first work of fiction and now has two more in the pipeline.
While the office drawers in adland’s creative departments are probably teeming with unfinished manuscripts, Doherty told Adworld.ie that writing a novel was something he always wanted to do. And where better to start with the intriguing tale of Killian Doyle, the managing director of a Dublin-based advertising agency who is thrust into a nightmarish world after his wife and child are murdered while later he witnesses his brother Dave, a JimiJix mascot for the fast-food chain Jespers, getting killed by an armed robber.
With an obvious eye for the detail when it comes to adland and the characters who inhabit it, Doherty’s Grisham-like insights into the world of crime will also entertain as the protagonist goes about finding his brother’s killer in a race against time.
