Three Ireland has launched its Euro 2016 campaign with a new TV ad that was created by Boys and Girls. The mobile phone operator is the main sponsor of the Republic of Ireland team.
Introducing the hashtag #makehistory, the campaign taps into Ireland’s footballing heritage with former Irish football manager Jack Charlton making an appearance discussing tactics with the Christy Moore song ‘Joxer goes to Stuttgart’ playing in the background. Irish manager Martin O’Neill and current stalwarts Robbie Keane and John O’Shea also feature in the ad which showcases the team’s efforts to make history for Ireland this summer.
According to Elaine Carey, chief commercial officer of Three Ireland: “the team has worked tirelessly to qualify including an incredible performance to beat the world champions and the entire squad has given 100%. The fans have also played their part including helping to create electric atmospheres at the matches. With the Irish fans having already been voted best in the world, we hope to see this support continue throughout the Summer.”
She continued “We wanted to capture the massive enthusiasm and energy that’s being generated across the country in anticipation of the Euros. You can’t manufacture that level of excitement, so we made the ad with real fans – sourced through supporters clubs – the ones who travel to every game and support the team through thick and thin. The end result is a campaign to uplift the fans that will really encourage everyone to get behind the team on Ireland’s summer journey.”
