The Sunday Independent has launched its first ever Christmas TV ad to thank readers for their loyalty this year.
The ad was created by Bonfire Productions and creative directors Ian Doherty and Sean Hynes worked closely with production company Nomos Productions. Robin Murray directed the advert and it was produced by Marc Dillon.
The 30 second ad was filmed over the past three weeks and features eight Sunday Independent writers wishing viewers a “Merry Christmas” as they walk through the busy streets of Dublin, before it concludes in Rachel Allen’s Cork kitchen.
The festive commercial shows Niamh Horan walking through George’s Street Arcade; before showing Gene Corrigan and Jody Corcoran walking down Molesworth Street; Ciara Kelly enjoying a brisk walk in St. Stephen’s Green; Brendan O’Connor shopping on Grafton Street; Rachel Allen strolling down a country lane at Ballymaloe; Barry Egan catching up with Rosanna Davison on South William Street and finally sports journalists Joe Brolly and Neil Francis on South Anne Street, all waving “Merry Christmas” to passers-by. The advert closes with Rachel Allen adding the final decoration, a felt snowman, to her Christmas tree in Ballymaloe House. Highlights in this week’s Sunday Independent will include Rachel Allen’s guide on how to cook the perfect Christmas dinner and two weeks of TV listings.
Geoff Lyons, Commercial Director, Independent News and Media said: “At this time of year it’s important to reflect on the past twelve months, which has seen great results for the Sunday Independent. That is down to the loyalty of our readers and the calibre of our writers. Readers of the Sunday Independent have a very personal relationship with its writers, and we wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of them a Merry Christmas.”
