With season seven of Game of Thrones now well under way, Tourism Ireland’s brand new campaign to showcase Northern Ireland to millions of fans is rolling out around the world.
To complement the global campaign, Tourism Ireland in the US is undertaking some additional promotions – to remind Americans that Northern Ireland is one of the main filming locations for the popular TV series.
Tourism Ireland has teamed up with The Hollywood Reporter, for the duration of season seven. The Hollywood Reporter is a hugely popular online magazine which carries all the latest news from the world of TV and movies and Tourism Ireland’s online ads are running on the site around the various reports and news about the hit TV show – highlighting Northern Ireland to the fans searching online for the articles and linking to the special Game of Thrones section on Tourism Ireland’s international website, Ireland.com/tapestry.
A billboard ad – featuring an eye-catching image of the famous Dark Hedges – has also appeared in Times Square in New York, highlighting Northern Ireland as ‘Games of Thrones® Territory’ to New Yorkers and visitors to the city.
According to Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America: “We are taking every opportunity to highlight Northern Ireland and its Game of Thrones® connections. We’re reminding fans that Northern Ireland is one of the main filming locations for the series, with numerous unforgettable set locations. Our aim is to spike people’s curiosity about the landscapes and locations featured in the series and inspire them to come and explore them for themselves.”
