The creative and media agency Javelin has announced the winners of its Start-up Bursary competition.
Three companies – ProU, Parkpnp and Coindrum – were chosen from over 60 initial entrants and from a subsequent shortlist of 10. The bursary was created to celebrate and mark Javelin’s 30th birthday and invited Ireland’s start-ups to apply for one of three €10,000 Bursaries of Javelin time, talent and imagination to help grow their business.
According to Joe Dobbin, Javelin’s MD: “It’s our birthday this year, celebrating 30 years since we were a fledgling start-up ourselves and we wanted to look forward. Every single one of the ideas that made our shortlist of 10 was a real cracker.”
“We sat down with each of the 10 shortlisted young companies to understand their vision and what they felt we could do to help them thrive – all of them were clearly working night and day and to be fair some of them were doing just fine without us, for others, it was just too early in their game for us to make a meaningful contribution to their success. In the end the choice came down to where we felt we could contribute the most along with the ideas that captured our imagination”.
Coindrum multiplies the change in international travellers’ pockets into bonus vouchers to spend in the duty free. CEO Lukas Decker said: ”The Coindrum team is excited to work alongside industry leader Javelin to build our airport brand globally.”
ProU is a maker of yoghurts that contain a therapeutic boost of calcium, protein and vitamin D. Founder and CEO Michael Murphy said: “It will be great having the Javelin team helping us box smarter.”
Parkpnp, meanwhile, describe itself as Airbnb for urban parking with a very credible plan for rapid global domination. According to CMO Daithí de Buitléir: “To win the bursary and have Javelin’s support on this journey will bring a real dynamism, creativity and expertise to the table at Parkpnp.”
