The insurer Allianz teamed up with INM Events to sponsor its breakfast seminar on Brexit, which featured Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, former Unilever chairman Niall FitzGerald and CPL founder Anne Heraty.
The Brexit Breakfast took place in Trinity College, Dublin and discussed the implications of Brexit on Irish Businesses.
An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, addressed queries from the audience regarding the UK’s pending transition, the Government working on building new relations with countries in the Benelux and Nordic countries, as well as central and Eastern Europe and the effect it may have on Ireland’s transatlantic business relations. He said the UK has achieved zero in its negotiations with the EU. But he said it would be wrong to think the UK electorate would change its mind. “This may change, particularly confronted with the true horror of a hard Brexit. But for now, the working assumption must be that Brexit is inevitable,” he said.
According to Cliona Carroll, Sponsorship and Events Manager, INM “Businesses across the Island of Ireland are watching to see what effect BREXIT will have on their sector. Events of this nature create an opportunity for business leaders, government & editors to come together to openly discuss the challenges faced. We are very pleased to welcome Allianz as sponsor of this mornings BREXIT Breakfast briefing & look forward to the next event within the INM Business Series. ”
