The Children’s Medical and Research Foundation (CMRF), which is the principal fundraising body of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, received a late Christmas present thanks to a charity initiative organised by Dublin Live, the website which is owned by publisher Reach plc.
The local news site partnered up with the Dublin-based charity over the Christmas period to raise funds through its #JumpersForJoy initiative where Dublin Live reached out to its agency partners to don specially made Dublin Live Christmas jumpers and share their pics with the hashtag on social media platforms.
Every social post meant €2 raised for CMRF and the total amount raised was then matched by Mirror Media, publisher of Dublin Live, to reach the final total of €500.
According to Mirror Media’s Business Communications Manager, LesleyAnn Diffin: “Dublin Live is a website that is all about and for Dublin, many of our staff are from Dublin and as Crumlin Children’s Hospital is Dublin-based, we wanted to give back to the community our platform serves and in which we live and work. CMRF is dedicated to working to improve the quality of life of sick children all over Ireland, not just Dublin, and we are proud to be able to support them.”
Sarah Joyce, Head of Corporate Partnership with CMF adds: “Every year, on average 150,000 children and their families visit Crumlin Children’s Hospital from across the length and breadth of Ireland. Thanks to supporters like Dublin Live, CMRF Crumlin can support Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital so they can deliver the best possible treatments and facilities to their patients and also ensure that vital research into childhood conditions is funded with our partners the National Children’s Research Centre which is the only dedicated paediatric centre in the county.”
