David Monaghan, head of commercial, News Ireland, has been elected as the new chairperson of IAB Ireland. One of the best known figures in the media industry, Monaghan replaces Shane Nolan, of Google who has been chairperson for the last three years.
Monaghan has been a director of IAB Ireland since 2018 and according to IAB Ireland “his experience across a number of UK and Irish publishers from a strategic and commercial perspective will provide strong leadership to assist the IAB Ireland executive in delivering on the trade organisation’s remit and in helping its members adapt to the particular challenges and opportunities created by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“IAB Ireland’s remit of Proving, Promoting and Protecting digital advertising has never been more important to maintaining a sustainable Irish industry,” says Monaghan.
“I am looking forward to working more closely with the board and the executive to ensure that IAB Ireland’s outputs deliver our remit with the collaboration and input of our membership,” he adds.
According to IAB Ireland, CEO, Suzanne McElligott: “IAB Ireland’s outputs are designed to meet the digital priorities of our brand council through the collaboration of our members. Now more than ever it is essential that our work plan is aligned with the needs of advertisers to ensure that we are delivering actionable insights, research and learnings and sharing best practise. IAB like all organisations has responded to the pandemic by pivoting its outputs and priorities for 2020 and have some exciting events coming up such as a partnership with Enterprise Ireland to host a digital lead generation masterclass for SMEs, a Digital Reboot webinar series, digital coffee breaks and IAB Connect conference via Zoom in November. All these events are free to attend and further information is available on www.iabireland.ie“. she added.
