With Valentine’s Day fast approaching and Covid-19 no longer an excuse for postponing a wedding, new research from the DMG Media-owned OneFabDay.com has found that 90% of those planning to get married will have their wedding in Ireland with August and September the favoured months to do so.
According to the research, which will be of interest to brands targeting this loved-up cohort, the most popular days to get married are Friday or Saturday. Those planning to “pop the question” on Valentine’s Day should note that the average wedding budget for the majority of respondents is between €25,000 – €30,000. However, over 15% have a budget over €40,000. In addition, around 41% of those surveyed said they would have 101 to 150 guests at their wedding with the majority opting for a two-part wedding with an intimate gathering with friends and family as part of this.
When it comes to the all-important honeymoon, 10% will spend over €10,000 on it with 15% planning on spending between €5,000 – €6,000. With ‘mini-moons’ becoming increasingly popular 36% will or did have an Irish mini moon with 24% of these respondents have chosen Kerry for their mini moon, according to OneFabDay.com
The research also shows that 70% of respondents did not have to rethink or change their wedding because of the pandemic. For those that did, the majority (76%) did not change the number of guests they invited when they ultimately had their wedding.
