The Story of Advertising Podcast which is fronted by adman Stuart Fogarty is now complete following the final episode which was released last week.
Running over 15 episodes, the series is a fascinating and thought-provoking whistlestop tour of the history of advertising. Tracing the definition, the birth and the development of brands, it tells the story of the start of advertising to today. From the first ad agencies through to the 1800s Industrial Revolution and the Great Depression, two World Wars, a Cold War right through to what may have called the golden era of 1950s US “madmen”, and latterly the shift to London creativity with the Saatchis in the 1970s and 80s.
The series also traces the birth of the holding companies like WPP and the emergence of the media agency split while host and presenter Fogarty lends his experience and knowledge with some personal observations on the future and what it might look like.
Fogarty is a former president and fellow of IAPI and is a former owner and CEO of McConnells Advertising at a time when it was the largest agency in Ireland. He is also a former CEO of AFA O’Meara and was one of the founding shareholders/directors of Core Media. Fogarty is currently the founder and CEO of the media buying platform, Admatic.
The series is available on Spotify, Acast, Buzzsprout and other platforms. To listen to all 15 episodes click HERE
