Crewless, the online freelance talent platform which allows producers hire freelancers in the TV, advertising and film industries, has introduced a number of new features which allows users to pay and get paid easier.
Crewless was founded in 2023 by Kevin O’Regan and Tommy Flavin, the co-founders of the Dublin-based production company The Reelists. Since launching, it says it has recorded hundreds of freelance jobs on its platform.
According to the company, the new Revenue guidelines published in May 2024 are a big driving force behind the latest changes. “In the midst of quite a bit of confusion around what these guidelines meant for the industry, we saw that we were in a unique position to provide an easy-to-use service that helps people meet their compliance obligations,” it says, pointing out that it has worked closely with a number of employment and tax experts in making the changes.
Some of the new changes to the platform include no fees for hiring freelancers who can now be paid directly by Crewless. The platform is also helping users stay compliant when hiring by providing guides and contracts for sole traders in line with Revenue guidelines. In addition, Crewless now only allows freelancers with a valid Tax Clearance Certificate to apply for a job.
