McGovern Calls it a Day at Dublin Gazette

Michael McGovern has stepped down as CEO Of The Dublin Gazette, the print and digital publication he founded 21 years ago.

He has been replaced by Catherine Madden who has over 30 years’ experience in the Irish media industry, having worked previously for the likes of Buy & Sell, Independent News & Media. Madden joined the Dublin Gazette in April 2024.

McGovern began his career in advertising, working for Saatchi & Saatchi in Dublin and later Dubai and Indonesia. He co-founded Gazette Newspapers in 2003.

Reflecting on the publication’s history, McGovern says that “working with such a talented team over the years has been an absolute pleasure. Together, we’ve weathered storms like the 2008 recession, Brexit, and COVID-19, always finding innovative ways to keep our brand thriving. I am immensely proud of what we’ve built—a publication with integrity that serves the communities of Dublin,”
