Gary Brown’s Dockers Returns to the Ambassador Theatre in April

Following a successful run at Liberty Hall in 2024 with sell-outs every night the “Dockers” will make its theatrical return to the Ambassador Theatre in Dublin from April 9-12th.

The play was written by marketing expert Gary Brown, a former chairman of Folk Wunderman Thompson (now Folk VML). In a career that spanned over 35 years, Brown was one of the advertising industry’s most influential figures, having founded Target Marketing in 1990 and which later went on to become one of the most awarded agencies in the country. It was later sold to Jim Donnelly’s CCG Creative Group.

Described as “an expansive musical” that tells the story of Dublin’s docklands, the show also features songs penned by Damien Dempsey.

The show stars George Murphy and Tara who play Jacko Dunne, a Dublin docker, who recounts his life along Dublin’s waterfront through story and song; Howley plays Nora, the bar manager and cousin of Jacko. The play is directed by Joe O’Byrne.
