Just one Irish agency – BBDO Dublin – has made it on to the shortlist for this year’s Epica Awards which take place in Berlin next week.
BBDO Dublin was shortlisted twice for its “I will Survive” campaign for the HSE Quit initiative. The agency made it on to the shortlist in the Public Interest – Health & Safety category as well as the category for the Best Use of Music.
Shortlisted finalists will go through to the grand jury, which meets in Berlin from 13-15 November. Gold and Grand Prix winners will be awarded during a ceremony at the Meistersaal concert hall on the evening of November 16.
The Epica jury is composed of editors and senior reporters from the world’s leading magazines covering creativity and communications, including IMJ and Adworld.ie. They are supported by an online jury of 200 journalists from specialists’ titles in fields such as post-production, VR, design, luxury and fashion.
This year Epica received 3,350 entries from 71 countries. This was down on the previous year due largely to the decision by Publicis not to enter any awards programmes this year as well as a lower participation by WPP agencies. However, the number of entries from agencies in China and Taiwan doubled while the number of entrants from Malaysia was up by 50%. New countries to enter this year included Pakistan and Kenya.
The gala awards ceremony will be preceded by the Creative Circle conference with a great line up of speakers around the theme of “The Creative Singularity”.
