The Media Awards 2018 will be held on April 5th in the Clayton Burlington Hotel and will be open for entries next Tuesday, January 23 with the closing date set from Monday February 26.
The highlight of the annual media and advertising calendar, the Media Awards showcase and recognise best practice in media buying, planning and research as well as the media brands and people who make up the industry. The Awards, which are now in their eight year, are open to all media and advertising agencies, media owners and brands on the island of Ireland.
This year’s Media Awards will be co-chaired by Liliana Caro, chief marketing officer, Kinetic Worldwide and Claire Beale, editor in chief of Campaign.
Adweek has named Liliana Caro a 2017 Media All-Star, recognizing her as one of the industry’s most innovative executives in the media planning and buying business. Claire Beale, meanwhile, is one of the industry’s most respected figures and apart from spearheading Campaign magazine, the bible of the global advertising industry, she has written extensively on advertising and marketing for the national press and is a regular media commentator and speaker at industry events around the world.
Over the coming weeks a panel of 40 judges will be appointed to judge the Media Awards 2018 and this year the organisers have introduced a number of new awards, a more detailed marking scheme for every category as well as post-event feedback and a new advisory panel made up of industry figures.
Last year, the Awards received a record number of entries while 950 guests attended the gala dinner and awards ceremony on the night. Many of Ireland’s top agencies and media brands picked up Gold awards with the Grand Prix going to ZenithOptimedia while Carat won the Media Agency of the Year for the second time in a row. Elsewhere, the Agency Network of the Year went to Core Media while the Irish Farmers Journal picked up Media Brand of the Year with Journal Media winning Sales Team of the Year. Genesis, meanwhile, won Media Agency of the Year (NI).
As demand for tickets to the Media Awards always outstrips supply, the organisers have once again advised that early booking is advisable.
