Michael Clancy, managing director of Mediavest takes over as chairman from Mark Nolan of Ignite
A new chairman and number of new members have been appointed to the council of the Marketing Society.
Michael Clancy, managing director of Mediavest takes over as chairman from Mark Nolan of Ignite. Nolan, however, will remain on the council and he is joined by new members including Avril Collins of PR firm Murray, Andy Pierce from Core Media, Chris Upton from Boys and Girls and Anita Mullan from Behaviour & Attitudes. Stepping down from the council will be Pat Stephenson, Martha Fanning, Grainne O’Brien and Leona Daly.
Council members are elected to the Society each year, and as ever the election was hotly contested, with thirteen candidates competing for only four places. This underlines the strong interest in society on the back of a busy twelve months of events. These included a Big Data Event in Google’s Foundry, the visit of challenger brand pioneer Adam Morgan to Dublin and most recently a healthy debate on the winners and losers of the communications battle of the Equality referendum.
Speaking about the election results Incoming chairman Michael Clancy said “We are excited about the future of the society as it continues to evolve to meet its members’ needs. The society aims to deliver a programme of events that helps senior marketers leverage their potential. The next twelve months will see the society focusing on helping its members embrace the challenge of marketing in a digital world, attracting high profile speakers and increasing the number of members. We are delighted to welcome new members to the council and would like to thank outgoing members for their incredible contributions over their time with the society.”
